So much has been said about the 'diversity gap' in children's books, about how changes are needed at every level if diverse books are to ever reach audiences.More than ever before, parents are hungry for books that provide diverse role models and mirror the true heterogeneity of our world. In today's polarizing socio-political climate, the need for books that feature diverse perspectives, empathy and inclusive worldviews are greater than ever before. In fact, inclusive representation in children's books has the power to build bridges and be a unifying force in the world. - and if not now, then when?
“If we are to reach real peace in the world, we shall have to begin with the children.” M K Gandhi
